Who Won Each Tekken Tournament

gibsonkecmoz

First released in 1994, Tekken left its mark in the video game industry and has stood the test of time, becoming one of the best fighting games in the world. Though there are others which have stood the test of time as well, such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, only one of them has as much impact as Tekken, and it feels like less of an event than Tekken due to how many times it is released. Tekken is not just loved for its fighting game mechanics, but because of its story. There is great lore to explore in the games' saga. The main thing is that in every game, someone starts up the King of Iron Fist Tournament, and fighters from around the world - some familiar and some new - enter the tournament either for the prize or due to a personal vendetta. This article will elaborate on who won each one of the tournaments.
Tekken 1

The game's story follows Kazuya Mishima's quest for vengeance against his father Heihachi, who threw him down a mountain as a child, stating that if he were truly his son, he would survive. Kazuya did, in fact, survive, and sought to avenge himself. After a gruelling tournament against the world's strongest fighters, Kazuya qualified for the final round, and defeated Heihachi, and throwing him down the same mountain he was thrown from. He then took over the Mishima Zaibatsu, taking Heihachi's place.

Tekken 2

Tekken 2 follows the events of the first game, and now has flipped the switch. This time, it is Heihachi who is looking for revenge against his son. He wants revenge for the defeat he suffered and to take back the Mishima Zaibatsu. Luckily for him, Kazuya announced the Kind of Iron Fist Tournament, giving Heihachi the opportunity he needed to lay the smackdown on his own son. Heihachi went through all the challengers that came his way and defeated them all. He then defeated Kazuya and threw him into a volcano this time, winning the tournament in an unnecessarily violent manner.

Tekken 3

The story did not end there. Tekken 3 picks up a few years after Tekken 2 and this time, the main focus is Jin Kazama; Kazuya's son with a lady he met before being defeated by Heihachi called Jun Kazama. Jin found Heihachi, following his mother's instructions before she died. Heihachi then trained Jin in the Mishima fighting style. That plus the Kazama fighting style made Jin develop into an impressive fighter. Heihachi eventually announced the new King of Iron Fist Tournament. Jin fought through the tournament so that he could reach Ogre, the Tekken god, and defeat it, as revenge for its hand in the death of Jun. The funny thing is that Paul Phoenix was the first one to reach Ogre. He defeated Ogre in battle and went on his merry way. He did not realize that Ogre was still going to transform. That was what Jin found when he reached Ogre. He fought Ogre and defeated it but was betrayed by Heihachi and fled after transforming.

Tekken 4

The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 was announced some time after, and Jin joined, intent on putting an end to the Mishima bloodline. Kazuya, who somehow returned, joined the tournament as well, wanting revenge against Heihachi, and to take back the Mishima Zaibatsu. Heihachi was ready for them both, and eventually kidnapped Jin in the middle of the tournament, not allowing him to finish it. Kazuya qualified for the final round, as he was meant to fight Jin, but since Jin did not show up, he won by default. He then went to fight Heihachi and was defeated by him, thereby making Heihachi the technical winner of the tournament. Jin transformed into Devil Jin and beat both his father and grandfather to a pulp before escaping them both.

Tekken 5

Moments after Jin's escape, the building Heihachi and Kazuya were in was attacked by an army of Jacks, and this attack led to the apparent death of Heihachi. However, a new tournament was announced and people around the world wondered who was behind this, and many joined in order to find out. Jin, who had his own personal demons to fight, joined the tournament for answers to the mystery of the Devil Gene, and wound up fighting his great grandfather, who had been released after the destruction of the building Heihachi had taken Jin to and defeated Kazuya in. Heihachi's father, Jinpachi, was the one who had announced the tournament, and wanted someone to defeat him before the Devil Gene completely took over him. Fortunately for him, Jin was strong enough to do just that, but, it was unfortunate, as Jinpachi had to die for him to be free of the curse.

Tekken 6

After taking over the Mishima Zaibatsu, Jin started World War 3. Everyone thought that he had lost his mind and succumbed to evil, but in truth, he wanted to lure out Azazel, an ancient monster which he believed was a key component in destroying the Devil Gene, in order to destroy it. Jin also knew that there were many who wanted him dead, while others wanted his position as head of the Zaibatsu, and he used this to his advantage. He announced a new King of Iron Fist Tournament to lure out all his enemies so that they could take each other out, and he could take them out as well. Lars Alexandersson, who was a leader in the Zaibatsu's military ranks, before becoming a rebel, stepped up to challenge Jin, and defeated him, winning the Tournament.

Tekken 7

Tekken 7 starts not long after Tekken 6. The whole world is looking for Jin, and the war still has not ended despite his disappearance. The Mishima Zaibatsu is still a superpower and the G Corporation is still its main enemy. Although Azazel has been defeated, evil persists in the world, and things get much worse. The new tournament is announced by Heihachi, who stormed the Zaibatsu's headquarters and took over as the new head. Kazuya, leading the G Corporation, finally managed to defeat his father once and for all, after finding out dark truths about why he was thrown down the mountain as a child. It turned out that Heihachi was trying to kill him because of the Devil Gene he had inherited from his mother. Yeah, there is a lot of drama with this family.

There you have it. Those are the winners of each Tekken game. The Mishima family usually comes out on top, but there are still many contenders who are able to put up a fight against them, and even the most powerful one among them; Jin, has been defeated by a mortal in a one on one fight. Perhaps the next installment in the franchise will give us a surprising winner and end the problems in the world of Tekken once and for all. Tekken 8 will be released on January 26, 2024.
